The age limit for driving a golf cart in Nocatee depends on the county you’re in. The laws were outlined Tuesday night at an information session at Crosswater Hall featuring representatives from the sheriff’s offices for the City of Jacksonville and St. Johns County.
In Jacksonville (Duval County), anyone age 14 and older can drive a golf cart on designated roads and trails. However, St. Johns County restrictions match those related to driving a vehicle. Therefore, golf carts being driven on the greenway trails and neighborhoods in St. Johns County must be at least 15 with a learner’s permit and a licensed driver.
With construction underway on a new trail that will make it easier for Brookwood residents to reach the Town Center via golf cart, the discussion was relevant and timely.
